Etching Artists
Attracted by the practice of etching, artists from the last third of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century ushered in a new era for printmaking. The Aguafortistas exhibition, consisting of sixty-six highly representative works by prominent painter-engravers, reflects the National Chalcography’s commitment to expanding knowledge of its collections, promoting the art of printmaking, and specifically showcasing an important chapter in the history of Spanish printmaking at the turn of the century.
