The print is part of the series Monumentos Arquitectónicos de España. Published at State expense and under the direction of a special commission set up by the Ministry of Public Works, Madrid, Imprenta y Calcografía Nacional, 1856-1882. The project consisted of compiling the entire architectural heritage in a deluxe publication with prints of the highest quality, with a total of 30 booklets containing 470 sheets of text and 134 prints, plus another 147 prints without explanatory text. Various techniques were used for the graphics: etching and engraving on steel matrix - occasionally copper plate - aquatint, lithography and chromolithography. The texts were printed in two columns, in Spanish and French, on sheets of the same format as the prints, with beautiful headers and endpapers.
