Jesús Fernández Barrio was a Spanish engraver, draughtsman and painter. He received his first prize at the age of thirteen when he was awarded the Extraordinary Prize for Drawing and Painting at the School of Arts and Crafts of his hometown, receiving his next award in 1942 with the drawing pension of the Diputación de Zaragoza, which allowed him to start his studies at the School of Fine Arts of Madrid.

During his studies he obtained three more scholarships and an engraving prize from the Central University. Between 1946 and 1991 he was awarded numerous distinctions for his work such as the Medal of Honor in the IV Salon of Aragonese Artists, the National Drawing Prize, he was named honorary pensioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Prize of the General Direction of Fine Arts in the Autumn Hall, the First Medal of Engraving in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts or the appointment of Doctor in Fine Arts and Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Complutense University, among many other distinctions. Throughout his life he exhibited on more than forty occasions individually and collectively.
