Juan Espina y Capo was a Spanish painter and engraver. He entered the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando to begin his studies, where he was a disciple of Carlos de Haes, and later moved to the Academy of Spain in Rome as a pensioner. After his studies he lived for a short time in Paris.

He won the third medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1881, two seconds in 1884 and 1895 and a first prize in the Engraving Section in 1926. He founded and directed the Association of Painters and Sculptors of Madrid, and was appointed academician of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in 1931. Also noteworthy is that he was a representative of Spain in the International Exhibitions of Berlin, Vienna, Chicago, Sweden and Norway in addition to organizing the First Autumn Salon in Madrid and the Spanish Art Contest in St. Petersburg.
