This print of Architectural Monuments was engraved by Teófilo Ruffle, a Parisian artist who played a leading role in the creation of this fantastic series as an engraver. He trained as a lithographer with Juan José Martínez in the city of Madrid, where he was from a young age, also attending the Royal Academy of San Fernando as part of his training. He moved back to his native city where he perfected the art of lithography at the Municipal School of Drawing directed by Leon Painlevé. 

He returned to Madrid as an excellent artist in chromolithography, taking part in national exhibitions, obtaining an honourable mention and even participating in series as important at this historical moment as this collection of Monuments or some such as The Spanish Museum of Antiquities (1872 - 1880).

Such excellence in his work can be seen in this type of chromolithographs, where Ruffle perfectly represents the richness of the personal jewels that Doña Urraca, lady of Zamora, donated to decorate the chalice that is still preserved today in the Collegiate Church of San Isidoro in León, an exceptional piece of goldsmith's work. The onyx bowls, as well as the inside of the cup, are covered in gold. Its exterior decoration is ornamented with precious stones, such as sapphire and emerald, with filigree stems and small snails. The foot of the chalice is decorated with small rounded arcatures and gold cords.
