Pietro Fontana was an Italian engraver. He was a member of the Academia di San Luca in Rome, where he carried out most of his work. A disciple of the engraver Raphael Sanzio Morghen, his work was closely related to the Papacy and the Vatican, his best known work being the series he engraved of the sculptures of Antonio Canova.
