Girolamo Carattoni, engraver born in Riva di Trento, along with his brother inherited the printing company of a cousin of his father. Along with Girolamo Francesco he studied drawing at Verona, and later moved to Rome where he began his studies of engraving.

His professional life mainly focuses on the reproduction of works of great authors, especially in relation to the British market. Among his works we can find themes of everything from religious themes to portraits of kings and nobles.
