Juan Antonio Salvador Carmona was a Spanish engraver, belonging to an important family of artists. He began his artistic studies thanks to his father before moving to Madrid to enter the Royal Academy of San Fernando with his uncle, the Chamber Sculptor and Deputy Director of Sculpture of the Academy, Luis Salvador Carmona. Following in the footsteps of his uncle, he initially opted for sculpture like his brother José, but turned to the studio of engraving finally, first by the hand of Tomás Pérez and later with his brother Manuel Salvador Carmona, one of the best engravers of his time.

In 1770 he was appointed supernumerary academician of the Royal Academy of San Fernando. He engraved a large number of commissioned works, collaborated in important engraving companies, engraved reproductions of pictorial works and portraits. Thanks to which he was appointed in 1789 Chamber Engraver of Charles IV. Among his most ambitious projects is the unfinished project of etching the entire santoral, a company that he left unfinished, opening only 31 plates corresponding to the Saints of the month of January.
