José Acevedo was a Spanish artist from Asturias. Little is known about his biography, but we do know that he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1860, was a member of the Protective Society of Fine Arts and participated as an illustrator for several important series of the time such as the Architectural Monuments of Spain or the History of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo, commonly called El Escorial, by Antonio Rotondo.
