The bullfighting collection, presented in its entirety in a magnificent leather case, made by Goya between 1814 and 1816, consists of forty plates engraved and numbered consecutively from 1 to 33, plus seven engravings on the back of plates number 1 (letter A), 2 (letter B), 3 (letter C), 7 (letter D) , 11 (point E), 17 (point F), 22 (point G), marked with letter respectively.

A new reading according to the thematic progression of the prints, would lead to divide the series into three parts: the mythical history of bullfighting since Antiquity; the figures of the two main schools of bullfighting during the eighteenth century, the Aragonese with the Student of Falces, Juanito Apiñani and Martincho, and the Andalusian with Pepe Hillo and Pedro Romero; and finally, the hauls of the struggle culminated in tragic outcomes. To a large extent, the possible interpretative deviations from Bullfighting are due to the fact that traditional historiography has focused all attention on the first two sections, while the most critical scenes of the third have often been forgotten, but now they are made available to the public so that they can appreciate their equal beauty and content.

It was stamped in 1983 from the original plates owned by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, in the workshops of the National Calcography on handmade ink paper exprofeso in the Moulin du Verger with the filigree CN.
